How to select a Yoga Teacher Training Program in Rishikesh

There are a lot of options when it comes to selecting a yoga teacher training program in Rishikesh. Confusing isn’t it? Not really. The selection of a yoga teacher training program depends on your personal preference. No one school is better than the other, only schools that are different from each other. It totally depends on your preference for a school that will make it “the best one” for you. Here are some of the considerations you should be aware of before selecting a school:

Location:

Do you prefer to stay and practice in the crowded market area or want to stay in quieter surroundings? Laxman Jhula market area is touristy and gets extremely busy in the holiday season whereas schools located in Tapovan area are suitable for those who want to stay in peaceful surroundings.

Class size:

It is extremely difficult to maintain one on one attention in large class size. However, if you like to practice in a large group of students, you can go to schools that have a large class size. Small class size, on the other hand, provide ample opportunities for students to interact with their teachers. A small class size, one that comprises of 12–18 students in a batch, is helpful for teachers to focus on everyone in the class.

Price:

Yoga teacher training program starts from 990 USD to well over 2700 USD for 28 days, 200 hours course. However, a low price not necessarily means inferior teachings or food. Some schools have attained a minimum threshold of reputation so they charge more for the course. Schools that provide cozy, the personal environment on the other hand charge less for the program. Before enrolling in a school check out the faculties and facilities of the school.

Curriculum:

This is one of the most important parts of choosing a yoga teacher training program. There are schools that focus on Hatha yoga and few schools in Rishikesh also focus on Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga style. However, very few yoga schools in Rishikesh focus on both Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa style of Yoga. Hari Om Yoga Vidya school is one of such rare schools in Rishikesh. If you have no prior preference between both yoga styles, you should choose a school that provides both teachings in its curriculum.

Food and accommodation:

Most of the accommodation level is similar in Rishikesh. Also since the food provided in almost all the schools are prepared based on traditional Indian style, you won’t find much difference in the taste. Hospitality provided by the school will make all the difference in your course. So it is better to check if the school cares about its student's gastronomical preferences.
